REDWING

Primitive and Outsider Art

PETER FOX Artist, Musician and Founder of REDWING

Peter Fox has been described asa "modern primitive" who works with what looks like at first, abstract elements, but are in fact full of reference.

Peter has developed a fertile object language of inherent and add-on meanings, a primal symbology as an antidote to the increasingly technological world. He attempts to breach language barriers in the immediacy of his imagery and with a mixture of sophistication and simplicity.
His work has been compared to the two greats of modern primitivism in Cornwall; Alan Davie and Breon O'Casey.

"I regard myself as a contemporary primitive, identifying with the Northern European ethnic tradition.  A non-anthropocentric world view is central to my thinking, and a desire to deepen understanding of the connectedness of existence.  The animal archetype is important, especially the wolf, a potent symbol of the wildness of nature." Peter Fox
